PokerStars VIP Program / Rakeback
The rakeback on PokerStars comes in the form of their tiered VIP Program. As with most poker VIP programs the PokerStars VIP program is top heavy, meaning the more you rake, the higher percentage you will get back.
The VIP program is a points based system where you earn points while you play, then spend these points on bonuses or merchandise. The VIP tiers are outlined in the table below:

As you can see from the table, the higher up the VIP ladder you climb, the more FPPs (frequent player points) you earn for every VPP (VIP player points). VPPs are used to determine VIP level only. FPPs are used in the store to purchase bonuses, tournament tokens and PokerStars merchandise.
You receive 6 VPPs per dollar raked at full ring tables, and 5.5 VPPs per dollar at all other games including tournaments. This means you will also receive between 5.5 and 30 FPPs for every dollar you pay in rake based on your VIP level and the games you play.

The VIP bonuses obviously encourage you to save up your points for the better value bonuses but there are also other rewards as you earn more points. These come in the form of stellar rewards and milestone cash credits which cost just 1 FPP (so effectively no cost) and they are available after reaching the following annual point thresholds:

PokerStars Review
PokerStars is by far the largest online poker site today. This means that the traffic in both cash games and tournaments is excellent, so putting in volume at almost any stake or game is easy to do at any time of day.
PokerStars size and longevity has also enabled them to create software that is vastly superior to most other poker sites and most would argue it's the best in the business today. As well as it's speed and efficiency, the software boasts a large amount of features that enable you to customise your playing experience to suit you and have a smooth playing experience even when playing on many tables at once.

Negatives:
As you can see, there is a reason (actually many reasons) why PokerStars remains the most popular online poker site, but there is an area where they could make an instant improvement. They only offer email support, and while they do answer emails extremely quickly compared to most other sites, a live chat or phone support option would be a welcome addition.
PokerStars Deposit Bonus
All new players at PokerStars get a 100% deposit bonus of up to $600 (or currency equivalent). To get this bonus players simply use the bonus code STARS600 when depositing for the first time. Additionally the first three deposits can be used for the first deposit bonus, so you can deposit a little bit at first to test it out and if you decide to continue you can use another two deposits to unlock more of the deposit bonus.
Players have 90 days to make the qualifying deposits and an additional 90 days to finish clearing the bonus, which clears at the rate of 17 VPPS (VIP Player Points) per $1 and releases in $10 increments. And yes, the V in VPP stands for VIP which is a bit silly.
You receive 6 VPPs per dollar raked at full ring tables, and 5.5 VPPs per dollar at all other games including tournaments. This means that the bonus alone equates to an extra 32-35%, but you also get to spend the points you earn so the rate of return while working off the sign up bonus is high.
